July 20, 1922 H- mmm... well, it's a good thing that nobody's name is mentioned in this article (Except for O.K. Crow, who was more than likely Ward Crow's daddy). But it's interesting to also note that there doesn't seem to be a single racist term/word in the whole article. Just a bunch of folks having a huge barbecue !!!
Casper Sr. is NOT fooling around in his forging ahead to be the biggest ginner around. In July, 1922, this article mentions he owns FIVE gins !.. And he ginned the first bale, which was Acala long staple cotton, and the bale which may have been bought by a New Braunfels miller to make Bluebonnet gingham, the first dress goods ever manufactured in the state of Texas !
September 1924...low numbers for this late in the season..First appearance of Retama Gin, the name of my Dad's, but this was when he was still a child, so I don't know what's going on just yet........14 gins in the county.. Also, notice that the Valley Gin is not listed.. did they sell or go out of business in 1923/1924??
