Had to unbolt the shock mount on the passenger side to drop the hub low enough to get the tire to go on, even after connecting my vacuum pump to make the cross section of the tire smaller. It was right after this photo was taken that BOTH of the weights in the picture came off in my hand. GRRRRR.. As it turned out, some "one" at Discount Tires used ALUMINUM wheel fitting weights, NOT STEEL wheel weights. WTF?!?!?
You aren't going to believe this crap !.. After taking the tires to Discount Tires Four Points in far west Austin, to be mounted on my rims, and bringing them back home, as I struggled with getting them back on, just as I was successful in getting the passenger side one on (after connecting my vacuum pump on to deflate the tire into the negative pressure state) to get it to fit between the fender and wheel mount on the Jaguar rear end, I saw one of the weights move !.. so I jiggled the other weights, and three of the four weights came off in my hand!. I couldn't even believe it.. So I called them and asked that they come pick up the tires, rebalance both of them, and return them this afternoon. I was told "We can't do that till tomorrow". That was at 12:20 PM. After pointing out "what happened" (that they had screwed up) that I needed them picked up, rebalanced, and returned today. The guy said he'd "try". So after three hours, I got a ride to take them back. When I walked in, the guy recognized me and said one of his guys was probably at my house to pick up the tires. I told him that whoever I talked to agreed to call first. ANOTHER breakdown in management. NOT doing what they are supposed to do. I paid $104.00 to have them mounted and balanced, and their quality control failed, When I got there, he explained that the weights that fell off are for aluminum wheels. WHAT?!?!? and his employee(s) don't know the difference? another WTF ???
